東京音楽大学および同大学大学院音楽研究科を修了。市川市文化会館新人演奏家コンクール最優秀賞、大阪国際音楽コンクール第2位をはじめ、日本クラシック音楽コンクール、日本アンサンブルコンクールなどで入賞。講談社『月刊少年マガジン』連載の人気作品『四月は君の嘘』では、演奏音源提供およびヒロインの演奏モデルを担当し、作品のリアリティと魅力の創出に貢献した。
大学卒業後は古楽の分野へと進み、東京藝術大学大学院修士課程（バロック・ヴァイオリン専攻）を修了。第30回国際古楽コンクール〈山梨〉第2位を受賞し、同委員会の推薦により栃木・西方音楽祭や古楽フェスティバル〈山梨〉などでリサイタルを開催。オリジナル楽器による演奏を中心に、オーケストラ・リベラ・クラシカ、バッハ・コレギウム・ジャパン、オルケストル・アヴァン=ギャルド、エクス・ノーヴォなどのアンサンブルに参加し、録音・公演活動を精力的に展開している。
また、NHK-FM「古楽の楽しみ」やNHK「名曲アルバムプラス」への出演、オリジナル楽器による弦楽四重奏《Just our two cents》での活動などを通じて、古楽の魅力を多方面に発信。2018年より開始したリサイタルシリーズ『池田梨枝子と Basso Continuo』では、17世紀イタリアのヴァイオリン作品を中心に据えた演奏で高い評価を得ている。現在は《プロムジカ使節団》コンサートマスターとしても活躍し、2024年にはモーツァルトの未発表作品の日本初演を手がけるなど、新たな挑戦にも意欲的に取り組んでいる。
これまでにヴァイオリンを浦川宜也、故・山岡耕筰、中島郁子、植田しづかの各氏に、バロック・ヴァイオリンを若松夏美、桐山建志の両氏に師事。
Rieko Ikeda graduated from Tokyo College of Music and its graduate school. She has received numerous accolades, including First Prize at the Ichikawa City Cultural Hall Newcomer Competition and Second Prize at the Osaka International Music Competition, as well as top prizes at the Japan Classical Music Competition and the Japan Ensemble Competition. She also contributed to the popular manga series Your Lie in April (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, published by Kodansha), providing recorded performances and serving as the performance model for the heroine, enhancing the realism and emotional impact of the work.
After completing her studies, she turned her focus to early music and earned her Master’s degree in Baroque Violin from Tokyo University of the Arts. She was awarded Second Prize at the 30th Yamanashi International Early Music Competition and, upon recommendation of the jury, gave recitals at the Nishikata Music Festival in Tochigi and the Early Music Festival Yamanashi. Specializing in historically informed performance on period instruments, she has appeared with renowned ensembles such as Orchestra Libera Classica, Bach Collegium Japan, Orchestre Avant-Garde, and Ex Novo, among others, both in recordings and live concerts.
Her work extends beyond ensemble playing: she has appeared on NHK-FM’s “Enjoying Early Music” and NHK’s “Meikyoku Album Plus,” and performs with the period-instrument string quartet Just our two cents. As a soloist, she launched a recital series titled Rieko Ikeda and Basso Continuo in 2018, focusing on 17th-century Italian violin repertoire, which has received critical acclaim. Currently, she serves as concertmaster of the ensemble Promusica Baroque Academy, and in 2024 led the Japanese premiere of an unpublished work by Mozart, continuing to pursue new artistic challenges.
